A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 15 years in jail and a fine of QR400,000 for illicit drugs trade and consumption. Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the Drug Prevention Department had received information that the defendant was circulating the illicit drugs hashish and opium for trade and personal use.

Besides, the information indicated that he was about to receive a big amount of hashish of around 10kg at Wakrah Area and he was going to take a sample of 1kg first. Accordingly, police patrols followed him to the designated place at the set time. There, he was arrested while picking up 1kg of hashish worth QR30,000, which he tried to throw away when arrested.
Further, a search of his vehicle and house revealed more small amounts and traces of hashish and opium. Eventually, the court convicted him based on the evidence included in the case
