Three expatriate Asian men have been sentenced to one year in jail and subsequent deportation by the Doha Criminal Court for stealing electric cables from their employer’s company storehouse.

According to the local Arabic daily Arrayah, the first defendant, a foreman of the company  and two of his colleagues, a driver and an electrician, stole the cables.

It is learnt that they intended to steal the material and sell it off to an outside party.

The stolen cables are worth of QR1,000, the prosecution noted. The expats planned to divide the money among themselves.

The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime before the police, after being caught and later before the trial court.

African expat sent to jail for stealing phone 

Meanwhile, an expatriate man from Africa has been sentenced to six months in jail and subsequent deportation for stealing a mobile phone from a shopper at a commercial complex in the Industrial Area.

The suspect was caught through the medium of CCTV footage installed at the shopping complex, reports local Arabic daily, Arrayah.

The victim has filed a complaint after which the police had launched investigations. The expat was caught later.
