A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an Asian expatriate man to one year suspended jail sentence for stealing building materials from a warehouse in the Doha Industrial Area.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported that the defendant, a Nepali national, used to work as a security guard at the company from where he stole the building materials. “Taken away from the warehouse located in the Industrial Area, he sold them for a sum of QR1,500. He was assisted by three others in transporting and selling the stolen materials,” the report said. However, the accused had not told the accomplices that the items were stolen, the report added.
After examining the evidence, the court found the accused to be guilty but acquitted the others, as the judge was convinced that they had played no part in the crime due to their ignorance about the theft.
