Smart homes might have been the buzzword for a while, but not many know what a real smart home is.

To help customers experience how a smart home works before taking the plunge, Samsung and Best Denki have teamed up to create a smart-home experience zone in the Best Denki store at Ngee Ann City.

Costing Samsung and Best Denki a six-digit sum, the Samsung Smart Home Experience space spans 115 sq m (about the size of a five-room Housing Board flat) and opened last Wednesday.

“There is increasing consumer interest in creating a smart home, but many are hindered by the misconception that a smart home is difficult to set up,” said Mr Lee Jui Siang, Samsung Electronics Singapore’s president.

The space “lets consumers experience smart living and they will be surprised by how easy it is to set up a smart home”, he added.

The experience space showcases a multitude of smart devices, including Samsung’s Connect Home Pro smart hub, QuickDrive washing machines, QLED TVs, robot vacuum cleaners and Netgear Arlo security camera.

These devices are integrated using Samsung’s Smarthings smart-home platform, allowing consumers to experience the conveniences of a smart home.

“Through this innovative showcase, our customers can now enjoy the capabilities of Samsung’s smart products and technologies and fully immerse themselves in the smart-home experience,” said Mr Koji Idera, managing director of Best Denki Singapore.

The Best Denki store in Ngee Ann City opens daily from 10am to 10pm.
