Qatar’s desert areas has been clad in green with abundant vegetation of late due to the rainy season. There are about 1,826 such places, which cover up to 2.5% of the overall area of the country, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment recently implemented a project to improve the green cover across the Qatari desert. This includes the planting of around 10,000 lemon trees at Hazm Al Jalata in Al Khor City, in addition to 34,500 Sedr trees at various municipalities.
