Katara Publishing House announces its Ramadan contest for short story

Doha: Katara Publishing House has announced the opening to run for Ramadan contest short story.

The launch of this competition comes within the framework of the efforts of the House in supporting and launching outstanding creative abilities in literature and culture and enriching the literary scene with new texts.

“The participation is open to all Qataris and residents of Qatar from all age groups. The text of this competition must be written in a proper Arabic language, taking into account the linguistic rules away from the local dialects,” Dar Katara Publishing House said in a statement Saturday.

The Organizing Committee of the contest confirmed that the participant have the freedom to choose the subject of the story, with the number of words being not less than 4000 words and not more than 7000 words.

June 15 is set as the last date for submission of the participating texts to the website: prizekataraph.com

Katara Publishing House has three awards for the winners. The winner of the first place will receive a prize of 7000 Qatari riyals, while the second-place winner will win a prize of QR 5,000. The third place winner will receive a prize of QR 3000.

Katara Publishing House was launched in last April and is working on publishing work according to the highest standards of quality, production, printing and distribution, especially after the great interest found by Katara during its printing and distribution of books and documentary and heritage works that won Katara prize for Arabic fiction.
