The much awaited shopping mall, the Mall of Qatar has finally been thrown open to public. The 500, 000 square meter mall welcomed hundreds of visitors yesterday who had come to get a first-hand taste of the offerings the new mall is showcasing. A special breakfast was held for the media personnel at the Al Rayyan Hotel by the Mall management, the media personnel were also taken on a tour around the mall.

“We have worked very hard for years to achieve this goal towards and seeing it come to life today is one of the most incredible experiences – and I am grateful to the entire team for making this possible”, Mall of Qatar, Ahmed Al Mulla, CEO said.

Mall of Qatar is expected to become one of the pillars of the new paradigm that is expected to make Qatar a shopping destination. The Mall represent the new breed of shopping complexes that seek to combine entertainment and shopping.

“I am extremely proud and happy to announce that the Mall is 99% leased- and 92% of the space is currently in the fit-out phase. 220 stores are being thrown open on our first day, which amounts to 60% of the gross leasable area,” Al Mulla added.

 

The Mall features a 360 degree revolving stage at its dazzling 5000 sq. m lush green oasis, where visitors can entertain themselves with a live entertainment program.

Al Mulla further stated: “The Mall culture plays a big role in our society. We want to push the limits of that and bring the best to our society. We want to be the standard setters in the retail industry in the region”.

The media personnel who were invited as special guests for the mall opening were left deeply impressed with the Mall’s offerings, they were also offered lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.

It is worth mentioning that the Mall of Qatar also announced that 19 new stores of international repute will be soon launched in its premises. The stores include Centrepoint, Max, Iconic, Reiss, New Look, Koton, Steve Madden, Carpisa, Ecco, Kurt Geiger, Pablosky, Emax, Sports One, Shoexpress, Candelite and Carluccio’s as well as the fashion and food concept stores Lipsy, Zafran and GRK Fresh.
