Messi named Europe’s 2015 top player
Lionel Messi, one of FC Barcelona’s top strikers, has been named UEFA Best Player in Europe for the 2014-15 season, CNN has reported.
It is the first time the Argentine has won the title since 2011, beating fellow club mate Luis Suarez and last year’s winner Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid, after Thursday’s group-stage draw for the Champions League.
The four-time FIFA World Player of the Year has scored 58 goals in all competitions while leading Barcelona to titles in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
