Doha: An official source at Qatar Media Corporation expressed deep regret that the Egyptian authorities had hindered issuance of visas to the delegation of the State of Qatar to participate in the meeting of the 91st Ordinary Session of the Standing Committee for Arab Information and the 49th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information, from May 7 to 9, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States.

Qatar Media Corporation’s Media Consultant Abdulrahman Nasser Al Obaidan, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday, that Qatar Media Corporation has done all the procedures required to obtain visas for the members of the delegation to participate in these meetings, but did not receive any official response from the Egyptian authorities in this regard to date, and they were informed of the issuance of only one visa.

Al Obaidan, head of the delegation to participate in the meetings of the Committee and the Council, confirmed that visa procedures had been initiated earlier to ensure participation.

But the obstruction of Egyptian authorities in the issuance of visas did not allow the delegation to participate either in the preparatory meeting of the Standing Committee for Arab Information, which began yesterday or the ministerial meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

He pointed out that the Egyptian authorities since the beginning of the unjust blockade are exerting a kind of intransigence in the issuance of visas to the delegations of the State of Qatar, to participate in the meetings of the League of Arab States at the invitations received from the General Secretariat of the Arab League.

In this context, H E Al Obaidan held the General Secretariat of the Arab League responsible for depriving the State of Qatar from participating in these meetings, adding that the Arab League must take responsibility for the participation of delegations and must take all measures to ensure their participation.
