Doha: The President of the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) Nasser Ghanim Al Khelaifi expressed yesterday his appreciation to the great support the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani awards to Qatari sports, which enabled the great success of sport competitions held in Qatar.
Speaking after the conclusion of Qatar Exxon Mobil Open, Al Khelaifi said it was an honor that the Emir attended the event. He also thanked the Emir for the interest in the competition and for attending the final.
The President of QTF said that Qatar Exxon Mobil managed to become one of the most notable tennis events and has become successful in terms the scale of media coverage of it, fan interest, and performance levels as well. He said that the participation of a number of the world’s best stars in the competition every year was a reflection of that.
He also thanked Exxon Mobil for its continued support to the competition and extended that thanks to all sponsoring companies. He also thanked the previous presidents of tennis federation, saying it was thanks to their efforts that the competition now enjoys its current status.
Al Khelaifi was especially pleased also with the great success of the 26th edition of the competition and the excellent final that saw Gael Monfils beat Andrey Rublev, adding that experience helped the Frenchman seal the title.
