Indian Embassy resolves 102 complaints this year

DOHA: Indian Embassy held 17 Open Houses this year including the Open House held on May 31, 2018. A total of 117 complaints were received during these Open Houses. Out of these, 102 complaints have been resolved, 15 are under active follow up of the Embassy.

An Embassy team visited the Central Prison and Deportation Centre last week to enquire about the welfare of detainees from India. The total number of Indian nationals in the Central Prison and the Deportation Centre currently is 199 and 85 respectively, said a release.

The Embassy has issued 137 Emergency Certificates (ECs) in May to Indian nationals for their repatriation. The Embassy also issued 04 air tickets to needy Indian nationals for their return to India in May, 2018.

The Embassy also organised four consular camps at Salwa, Mesaieed, Al Khor & ICBF Help Desk and Dukhan & Zikreet areas and rendered 308 consular services to the Indian nationals. The monthly Open House to address urgent consular and labour issues/cases of Indian nationals in the State of Qatar was held at the Embassy on 31 May, 2018.

The grievances brought to the notice of the Embassy related to issues of delayed payment of wages and violations of contract terms and conditions.  Ambassador P. Kumaran, Third Secretary (Labour & Community Welfare) Dr. M Aleem and other officials met all the complainants, discussed their problems in detail and assured them of the Embassy’s active follow up of their cases with the concerned authorities in the Government of Qatar.
