DOHA: Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar, Shahzad Ahmad, inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion at the 15th Edition of Project Qatar Exhibition being held at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Centere (DECC), in an impressive ceremony.
He was accompanied by the Commercial Secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan, Salman Ali. The ambassador went to each of the stall and was briefed by the exhibitors about their respective products, said a statement issued by the embassy.
This year, the Pakistan Pavilion comprises of five companies supported by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP); four companies entirely funded by the private sector and an additional booth managed by TDAP itself where two more companies are participating.
The self-funded companies include International Industries Limited (IIL), International Steel Limited (ISl) and Pakistan Cables Limited (PCL), all of which come under the umbrella of Chinoy Group of Companies.
Additionally, one of the leading paint brands from Pakistan, Brighto Paints is participating with the assistance of its local distributor Unique Trading.
The five companies supported by TDAP include Hilton Enterprises and Ehsan Sons Pvt Ltd (both dealing in safety wear and gloves), Rafique Engineering Industries Pvt Ltd (manufacturers of Royal fans), Marnite Industries (dealing in finished marble and granite products) and ACE logistics Services.
At the TDAP’s booth, Marvel Paints and Siddiqsons are being represented, Pakistan has more than doubled its participation from the previous edition which is a testament to the efforts made by Pakistani exporters and the Embassy of Pakistan.
Pakistani exporters are viewing the opportunities that arose in the market due to the supply gap created by the blockade, with keen interest.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s exports to Qatar rose by more than 65% in the first nine months of the current financial year (1st July 2017 to 31st March 2018) in comparison to the same period in the previous financial year.
