Attiyah defends WRC2 title

DOHA – Pontus Tidemand won WRC2 class at Spain’s RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada on Sunday but it wasn’t enough to prevent Qatari ace Nasser bin Saleh al Attiyah from securing the title for a second consecutive season.

This was Attiyah’s third FIA title in three weeks. First, he clinched the World Cup of Cross Country Rallies two weeks ago. He followed it up with the Middle East Rally Championship crown with his win in the Jordan Rally last week.

The Swede took the lead from Attiyah early on Friday and did not look back as he won the four-day mixed surface event near Barcelona by 10.7sec from Skoda Fabia R5 teammate Jan Kopeck’fd.
