DOHA: Educational City stadium, a proposed 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar host venue, nicknamed as the ‘diamond in the desert’ is seeing a lot of action these days as the construction work at the site is being carried out in full swing.
This is evidenced by photos published by The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy on the official Twitter handle that show us the acceleration of work.
The stadium continues to take shape with the whole concrete structure now in place and all of its distinctive V-shaped columns erected, the committee added in its tweet.
Education City Stadium is located in the western area of Education City’s south campus. Revealed in a ceremony in 2014, the stadium’s design is inspired by complex geometrical patterns that pay tribute to traditional Islamic architecture. Once complete, the stadium will become the focal point for Education City’s sporting facilities and play a key role in QF commitment to community development. In addition to football, the stadium will be able to stage leisure and entertainment events as the pitch and seating configurations can be altered accordingly.
