Doha: The Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4, 2019, is the first day of the blessed Eid Al Fitr in Qatar.
This came in a statement released by the committee headed by its chairman Sheikh Dr Thaqil Al Shammari, following a meeting today at the headquarters of the ministry.

To make the announcement qucik and foolproof, the ministry had formed a Qatari national team for the sighting.
The team was well equipped with theoretical knowledge in Islamic legislation, field training and all the necessary equipment.
The ministry announced that the Eid prayer will be offered at 5am, 15 minutes after shurooq–sunrise.
The ministry has prepared a total of 489 places including mosques and open grounds for offering the Eid prayers across the country, said an earlier statement.
Separate arrangements have been made at 67 places for women worshipers.
The Moon Sighting Committee held its meeting in the evening, to sight the crescent of Shawwal month, and prove the testimony of those who saw it.
The Committee extended greetings to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, as well as the honorable government, the people of Qatar and all Muslims.
“We ask Almighty Allah to return this occasion to everyone with good and blessing,” it said.
