First IAU 50km World Championships to be Hosted by Aspire ZOne

Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) launches the first edition of the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) 50km World Championship on 4 December 2015, . The championship is officially accredited by the IAU and will be hosted by Aspire Zone annually through to 2017.

Featuring more than 100 of the world’s best ultrarunners, as selected by their respective national federations, strong competition is expected for the championship title.

Starting at 6pm, the race runs through until midnight. Winners will be formally announced during a closing ceremony, which will be held on Saturday 5 December 2015 at The Torch Hotel.

Aspire Zone will also host the third edition of the ‘Aspire International 6:50 Race’ which takes place during the IAU international race weekend. This unique event gives local enthusiasts the opportunity to run alongside IAU professional ultrarunners. It will also feature an athletes’ village where participants can register, warm up, cool down as well as meet with race organisers, media and others taking part.
