GCC backs Qatar’s World Cup

DOHA – Member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has pledged their backing for the FIFA World Cup in 2022 once again.

The four-day GCC National Olympic Committees (NOCs) meeting ended in Doha on Wednesday with the youth and sports ministers of the region discussing the 2022 World Cup and ways to reinforce efforts to strengthen mutual cooperation and solidarity.

Chaired by Youth and Sports Minister His Excellency Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al Ali, the meeting took place in the morning. He, in his closing remarks, welcomed all the participants and expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates for throwing their weight behind Qatar’s World Cup and plans to highlight the region.
