Help is at hand for those who are struggling to pay court-ordered payments, alimonies and small debts. Two prominent Qatari entities, the Supreme Judiciary Council and the Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani Foundation for Social Welfare in Qatar, have signed an MoU to set up a fund to help these people in distress.
The agreement was signed by Supreme Judicial Council’s Chief Executive Officer HE Dr Mansour al Qahtani and the Foundation’s Sheikh Hassan bin Rashid al Ajmi. The fund is being created primarily to alleviate the suffering of families caused the absence of certain payments such as alimony. According to the MoU, the fund will take care of such payments until the individuals responsible for them are able to meet them.
“I would like to thank the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and His Highness the Deputy Amir for taking care of this initiative aimed at alleviating the suffering of an important group of litigants taking into account the needs of these groups,” Sheikh Hassan bin Rashid al Ajmi said.
According to the MoU, Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani Foundation will take care of the payments while the Supreme Council of the Judiciary is to determine whether there are sufficient grounds for the financial assistance.
The Foundation also contributes to the study of the cases of convicts and decide how best to meet the expenses decided by the Family Court, as well as contributing fund for the payment of small debts of persons who are unable to repay them.
