Municipality registered 148 violations and fined QAR183,000
Health inspectors conducted 887 regular and five surprise visits to outlets in Al Rayyan Municipality area and registered 148 violations last month.
Five outlets were fined a total of QAR183,000 following the inspections by the municipality.
Inspections are usually carried out at eateries, bakeries and other outlets which sell food items as well as barber and beauty salons.
Inspectors also checked 34 new commercial licences of outlets. Some 43 shop owners gave written assurance that they will not repeat the minor violations they had committed.
During inspections, about 2,182kg of meat and 65 slaughtered sheep were found unfit for human consumption. A total of 20,610 packets of food were also destroyed by authorities.
