Qatar, Brazil ties extend to Rio Olympics: Envoy

BRAZILIAN Ambassador to Qatar has stated that the 2016 Rio Olympics will offer a greater opportunity for cooperation between Qatar and his country. It can benefit the Gulf nation as it prepares to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and perhaps bid for Olympic Games in the future.

Speaking to Qatar Tribune recently, Ambassador HE Roberto Abdalla hinted at the cooperation in terms of logistics.”We hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and this year we are going to host the Olympic Games in Rio. It starts on August 5. Qatar also has a huge experience in hosting big international events and we are trying to develop a partnership in this area,” the ambassador said.

“Once you host events on the scale of FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games, you gain experience, and we can share this experience with Qatar. We have acquired such experience after preparing for these mega sporting events. We can share our perspective on what was successful, the weak links and the types of challenges and difficulties,” he added.
