Qatar builds 2 main road projects in Gaza Strip

Doha – Two important road projects that Qatar executed in the Gaza Strip the coastal highway Al Rashid Street and Salah Addin Street, which links northern Gaza Strip with the south were opened on Wednesday.

Opening the Al Rashid Street, President of Qatari National Committee for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip Mohammed al Emadi said the work on the implementation of the third phase of Al Rashid Street, which began last January, cost $5.7 million. The stretch is 2 km long and 40 metres wide.

“Today, we celebrate the opening of Al Rashid Street, the most prominent tourist attraction which sees thousands of people and vacationers every day,” he said.

Emadi said he has already signed the agreement for implementation of the tenth phase of Al Rashid Street (5.2 km long) at a cost of $11 million.

The work on the next phase, a 5-km stretch, will be taken up at a cost of $13 million, in the beginning of next year.
