Qatar set sight on 2018 Russia world cup

Doha – The Qatari national team is focused on taking each game of the 2018 World Cup qualifier as it comes with the mindset of getting maximum points irrespective of the quality of the opposing teams, coach Daniel Carreno said on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference ahead of their Thursday’s Group C qualifying match against Bhutan at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, the former Al Arabi club coach said that the team is in top shape ahead having undergone intensive two weeks of training in Switzerland and Austria.

“We have 26 players who are in top shape and ready to prosecute our qualifying matches. The boys are excited to win and they are ready to give their best to ensure that they get the maximum points from each game,” the 52-year-old Uruguay-born said.
