Qatar U-23 make a winning start

Doha – Goals from Al Moez Abdulla, Hamza al Sanhaji and Akram Afif ensured the Qatar Olympic team secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Palestine in their opening Group A match of the West Asian U-23 Championship at the Lekhwiya Stadium on Wednesday.

With the result, Qatar lead the group with three points while Jordan, who defeated Yemen 3-1 in the opening match of the day, are second.

Abdullla scored a brilliant goal in the 22nd minute, following a counter-attack that left the Palestine defence flat-f00ted as the Lask Linz of Austria attacker latched onto a pass and raced into the box before turning defender Wasim Haloon inside out to slot the ball past Palestine goalkeeper Rami Hamada.
