A Qatari delegation representing Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) and Qatar Foundation, headed by QNTC assistant secretary-general Hassan al-Ibrahim, has met with officials in the Jordanian tourism and heritage sectors, including Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Majd Shweikeh, Petra National Trust president and Unesco goodwill ambassador Princess Dana Firas and Jordan Tourism Board managing director Dr Abdelrazzaq Arabiyat.
During the meetings, the officials discussed ways of expanding co-operation between Qatar and Jordan in the areas of tourism, antiquities, ecotourism and architectural tourism, QNTC said in a press statement. The two sides agreed to benefit from Jordanian expertise in managing heritage sites and nature reserves, and sharing knowledge and learning in various areas of tourism, including the management of conferences and exhibitions, the statement added. The meetings were held on the sidelines of an event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Petra National Trust, Jordan’s oldest non-governmental organisation for the protection and preservation of national heritage.
