The annual National Test Fest of ScorePlus Qatar raised a total of QR12,500, all to be donated to “improving access to quality and inclusive education with gender equality for out-of-school children in Iraq”.
The contribution was made to the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation.
ScorePlus Qatar organised the 2019 National Test Fest at its facility in Al Waab and at a number of schools in Qatar, including Doha College, Middle East International School, SEK International School, Birla Public School, DPS Modern Indian School, Ahmed bin Hanbal Independent Secondary School for Boys and Abdullah Bin Ali Almisnad School For Boys.
In all, more than 400 students took part in the event.
The participants, who ranged in level from Grade 9 through 12, took PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests or IELTS. Although the primary aim of the tests was to raise funds for providing educational opportunities to children stricken by poverty or crisis, the event also played a role in fostering students’ awareness of and readiness for these entrance exams.
The National Test Fest not only gave students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the test format but also helped them understand how to best prepare themselves for university admissions, the statement noted.
Pradeep Singhal, regional director of ScorePlus Qatar, said: “We are immensely proud to play a small part in helping 25 underprivileged students gain an opportunity to receive a year’s education and meals.”
