Thousands visit Katara on Eid Al Fitr holidays

Doha – THE change of mood from subdued devotion to full on festivity was dramatic this weekend. By the hundreds, people prayed together in perfect rows at the Masjid of Katara for the morning and mid-afternoon prayers on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, and then made a quick dash in every possible disciplined manner to the amphitheatre open fairground and festival to queue up for activities and traditional food stalls.

This was Eid Al Fitr celebration in Doha style. An awe-striking number of men, women and children were gathered to witness the Eid festivities and collectively sat in merriment of the fireworks which is usually portrayed as the largest gathering of people every year in Doha.

There was a great sense of unity in the atmosphere, as everyone present was gathered at Katara for the same reason and purpose to celebrate Eid with family and friends. Katara will continue to hold their Eid festivities for the remaining Eid holidays. With the turnout this impressive, it only seems fitting.
