At a local movie house in Taytay, Rizal, a woman was arrested for attempting to pirate this year’s first Pinoy film “Mang Kepweng Returns,” starring actor/comedian Vhong Navarro.
The suspect, identified as Vina Calaguin, who had her child in tow, was caught by the security guard videotaping the movie as it was showing.
The woman denied the allegations of attempting to pirate the movie. She explained that the 15 minute footage found in her phone was supposed to be proof that the money she had was used to pay for the movie.
“Wala po akong intensyon na videohan po yun,” she explained with her face drenched in tears.
The movie’s producer Michelle Diolola personally came to the precinct as well.
“Nakakaawa, sa totoo lang, pero may kailangan din kami na proteksyonan din, kompanya, interes ng kapwa producers at iyong industriya mismo na pinasok namin,” Diolola said.
The legal counsel employed by the movie company stated that, according to the anti-camcording law of 2010, the woman may be charged with a fine of Php 750,000 and could be imprisoned for 6 years and a day.
