HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Youssef Jassim Al-Thani, assistant director of the Foreign Ministry’s Human Rights Department, made the remarks as he addressed the high-level session of the fifth edition of the Forum on Business and Human Rights, which is being held in Geneva.
He said that Qatar looks forward to cooperating and coordinating with the working team in following up on the outputs of the forum, noting that holding the forum comes on the back of the increasing interest by Human Rights Council and other stakeholders in this issue.
He expressed hope that the forum will help in shedding more light and deepening the understanding of the U.N. guiding principles and discussing challenges facing the stakeholders.
The forum aims to enhance ties between the two fields of business and human rights, discuss challenges hindering the implementation of the guiding principles, and encourage dialogue and cooperation on issues related to business and human rights. (QNA)
