Geneva, November 16 (QNA) – The State of Qatar pays special attention to the issue of business and human rights and the U.N. guiding principles, an interest that was embodied by hosting the first Asia Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights in April to constitute an opportunity to promote the guiding principles and understand the best practices and policies in the continent.

HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Youssef Jassim Al-Thani, assistant director of the Foreign Ministry’s Human Rights Department, made the remarks as he addressed the high-level session of the fifth edition of the Forum on Business and Human Rights, which is being held in Geneva.

He said that Qatar looks forward to cooperating and coordinating with the working team in following up on the outputs of the forum, noting that holding the forum comes on the back of the increasing interest by Human Rights Council and other stakeholders in this issue.

He expressed hope that the forum will help in shedding more light and deepening the understanding of the U.N. guiding principles and discussing challenges facing the stakeholders.
