Sheikh Joaan meets IAAF chief Sebastian Coe in Rio

Rio De Janeiro – HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani , Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President and Head of the Qatari delegation taking part in Rio 2016, met here Monday with Lord Sebastian Coe, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and member of the International Olympic Committee (OIC) during his visit to Bayt Qatar in Rio de Janeiro.

Coe toured Bayt Qatar’s various pavilions and listened to a detailed explanation on its contents and objectives to brief sports leaders and visitors among the Brazilian fans on Qatar’s achievements in various fields at sports, development, cultural and heritage levels.

He praised the idea and the initiative of Bayt Qatar, noting that QOC has always a clear imprint on the Olympic level and is always on the forefront to support the International Olympic movement’ projects, which stem from the belief of its conscious leaders in maintaining OIC ‘achievements, gains and noble values aimed at empowering the world’s youth capacities through sports as a means of sustainable development.
