US train derailment kills at least five
A US passenger train has derailed near Philadelphia, killing several people. Multiple train cars rolled over in the crash and dozens of injured have been taken to local hospitals. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
At least five people were killed and dozens more injured Tuesday night when a passenger train derailed near the city of Philadelphia in the northeastern United States, according to Mayor Michael Nutter.
Emergency personnel were responding at the scene of the accident, combing through the wreckage to aid the injured and search for survivors. Firefighters said 10 cars rolled over in the crash.
The Amtrak train, which was carrying nearly 238 passengers and five crew, was en route from the US capital of Washington, D.C. to New York City. Nearly 60 people were taken to local hospitals after the accident, according to health officials.
