DOHA: Sohni Dharti, a socio-cultural organisation of the Pakistani community, organised a cultural event on Thursday in Al Khor community facility under the theme ‘Sohni Dharti Mango Festival’.

Various kinds of mangos from Pakistan were showcased. The stalls selling mangos drew huge crowds. The most popular mango fruits chonsa and Anwar ratoul attracted visitors.

Famous Pakistani cuisine was also the part of the festival. Families set up stalls for traditional Pakistani dishes. Summaya Qasim, Maryam Qasim and Muhammad Asim were on ‘Aloo Naan’ Stall. Rimsha Liaqat set up a stall ‘Haleem’, a famous Pakistani dish.  A decorated stall by Khaled Khan attracted visitors for ‘chapli kabaab.”

The family of Shahid Nadeem served visitors with ‘gol gappay’. Lahori dahi ballay were served by the family of Akif and Hanif served haleem and samosas.

Pakistanis Mohammad Johar and Ali zaid set up a stall of ice pops. Famous Pakistani restaurants ZAOQ and Shezan also participated. Chairman of Sohni Dharti Rana, Anwar Ali, opened the festival in the presence of Pakistani Embassy officials, including Commercial Attaché Arbab Qaisar, Community Welfare Attaché Hafiz Sial, Defence Attaché Commodore Muhammad Irfan Taj and Sohni Dharti executive members. This is seventh annual mango festival in Qatar to introduce seasonal fruits from Pakistan.
