Qatar, France ink EUR 6.7 bn deal for 24 Rafale jets

The Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani patronised the opening of the 5th edition of Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2016) at Qatar National Convention Centre on Tuesday.

The Emir toured the exhibition and met visiting defence ministers and chiefs of staff of several countries.

The first day of the exhibition saw Qatar sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with France to buy 24 Rafale multi-purpose fighter jets worth 6.7 billion euros.

Dassault Aviation of France is the manufacturer of Rafale fighter planes.
