Qatar-Italy talks to develop ties further

DOHA: Speaker of the Advisory Council H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud met with a delegation from the Italian Republic that included Senior Director of European Affairs at The Aspen Institute, Dr Marta Dassu, and Adviser of the Italian Prime Minister, Franco Bassanini.

They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them in different fields, particularly parliamentary ones. They also discussed a number of issues of joint interest.

The Speaker of the Advisory Council discussed the economic and legislative developments of the State of Qatar under the leadership of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Speaker also discussed the unjust blockade enforced on the country and how it represents a violation to international law and good neighbourliness.

The Italian delegation for their part praised the developmental renaissance of the State of Qatar in different fields. They also highlighted their support to all diplomatic efforts aiming to resolve the GCC crisis through dialogue, in order to see a return to harmony and agreement in the region. They added that they look forward to developing Qatari-Italian ties further in the future.

The meeting was attended by members of the Advisory Council, Saqr bin Fahd Saqr Al Muraikhi and Mohammed bin Ali Al Henzab, as well as Italy’s Ambassador to Qatar, Pasquale Salzano.
