Tunis, July – Tunisia has launched the celebration of choosing the central city of Sfax as a Capital of Arab Culture 2016, with a Qatari participation.

Director of Culture and Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Faleh Al-Ajlan Al-Hajri, said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the presence of the Qatari delegation in the opening of this cultural event comes within the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s keenness to consolidating cultural relations with all Arab countries, pointing out that the Ministry will offer full support for the success of this event stemming from its experience and expertise in hosting “Doha Capital of Arab Culture.”

He said that he discussed with the Tunisian Minister of Tunisian culture, Sunnia Mubarak, the Qatari contributions through this year, pointing out that the Qatari Ministry of Culture and Sports will take part in many cultural and artistic events in Tunisia during this year such as the International Book Fair, visual arts and organizing cultural days in order to introduce the Qatari culture and enrich the cultural cooperation between the two countries.
