The Nationality and Travel Documents Department said Qataris can use HIA’s e-gate service

Doha, June 15 – The Nationality and Travel Documents Department of the General Directorate of Nationality, Borders and Expatriate Affairs (GDNBEA) has allowed Qatari passport holders to use the e-gate service at Hamad International Airport (HIA).

Those subscribing to the service through Qatari smart card will be able to enter the HIA through electronic gates and need not go to the immigration counter.
Brigadier Abdullah Saad al Buainain, director of Nationality and Travel Documents Department, said that Qatari citizens who have the e-gate service on their ID cards can also enter HIA through the e-gates.

He said this service can be activated for those who are above-16 through the service centres while parental consent is required for all those below the age of 18 years.
The e-gate service is one of the most important services provided by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) at HIA aiming to save the travellers’ time and effort. The travellers at HIA do not need to stand in queues at passport counters as all the necessary procedures are completed automatically through the e-gate.

It is easy to subscribe to the e-gate service. All that one needs to do is to pay the fees through Metrash2 or through service centres spread across the country.

The applicant does not need to submit any written request and has to show his e-ID card only to the competent employee to avail the service. The employee will in turn enter the applicant’s data into the computer to add the service to his ID card or the passport within minutes.
