Rio 2016: Qatar’s Barsham Qualifies For Men’s High Jump Final

Rio De Janeiro – Qatar’s track and field athlete and Olympic champion Moataz Barsham was qualified to the finals of the high jump competition in the Olympic Games Rio 2016 topping his group in the qualifying competition held on Monday.

Barsham has successfully cleared 2.29m without any failure of all his attempts.

Barsham won the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and is seeking to win a gold medal or at least retain his bronze. The Qatari champion has scored before a height of 2.43 m with a difference of 2 cm from the current world record holder Javier Sotomayor .

Commenting on today’s achievement, Barsham said it extremely difficult to predict the final outcome of the competitions.

The high jump competition is very strong this time as it includes world top high jumper, he explained, adding that he does not pay attention to the level of competitors and only focus on his personal performance to achieve the highest record.
