Russia conducts maneuvers in NATO airspace as it waits for French warships

Russia has conducted “significant military maneuvers” in European airspace, NATO has said, possibly endangering civil air travel. Meanwhile, Russia has announced a date to receive its first of two French warships.

Russia has conducted “significant military maneuvers” in NATO airspace, the organization said on Wednesday evening.
A total of 26 Russian military aircraft had been intercepted within a 24-hour period over the Baltic Sea, the North Sea/Atlantic Ocean and the Black Sea. Among the aircraft were nuclear bombers, fighters and tankers.
