THREE ASIANS SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN JAIL FOR ABDUCTING COMPATRIOT

The Criminal Court of Ras Al Khaimah has sentenced three residents, Asians, to 10 years in jail for being found guilty of abducting a compatriot.

The suspects, who were also ordered to pay a fine of Dh10,000 each,  had tracked down the victim while sitting at a café shop here in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, as per court records.

The trio then followed him while heading home, and abducted him. Later, they called one of his friends and asked him to pay a ransom of Dh10,000 threatening to kill him if he did not pay the amount requested to report the issue to the police.

The RAK police, alerted that an Asian resident in his thirties was abducted, formed a team of the high caliber Special Forces Unit members, and initiated intensive investigations.

Tracking down the abductors, the RAK police, in collaboration with the Ajman police, set a tight security trap, and arrested them red-handed, and managed to release the victim safely.

The suspects were referred to the RAK public prosecution where they admitted to their crime. They confessed that the crime came to their mind when they first saw the victim after handing over a large amount of money for his company.

The suspects immediately abducted the victim after he got on his motorbike, and decided to get a ransom to set him free.

The accused were referred to the RAK Criminal Court which, presided over by the Chief Judge Sameh Shaker, found them guilty and ordered them to serve 10 years in prison, and deportation thereafter.
