Ministry honours 226 Students of Holy Quran memorisation centres

The officials of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs honour a student of a Holy Quran memorisation centre at Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Hall.

DOHA: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs honoured the students of the Holy Quran memorisation centres in the annual ceremony held at Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Hall in the presence of a number of Ministry’s officials, supervisors of centres and students’ parents.

The ceremony, held recently under the patronage of H E Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari, honoured 226 students, including 70 students from different nationalities who completed memorising the entire Holy Quran during the past year along with 9 Qatari students.

In addition, 37 Qatari students were honoured for completing classes of the Holy Quran and 110 others who presented outstanding performance in the preparatory stage according to the curriculum of the Qur’anic centres affiliated to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

The value of the awards presented to the honourees this year reached nearly half a million riyals.

Mal Allah Al Jaber, Director of the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance, praised the efforts made by the Quranic centres during the past year, which resulted in the graduation of a number of memorisers of the Holy Quran and the achievement of advanced positions in international Quranic competitions.
