MP Mining Mafia Tries to Run Over Inspector, BJP Leader Says 'They Are Nervous'
A Madhya Pradesh police team came across illegal mining operations in Sindh River and immediately started seizing the digging machines when the goons reached the spot and outnumbered the few policemen.

Bhopal: Members of the sand mafia made a daring murder attempt on an inspector in Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh by trying to run him over with a sand-digging machine while he tried to stop illegal quarrying activity in the district on Monday.

The officer escaped unharmed only after fleeing the spot. The team of officers later informed their seniors.

Meanwhile, the ruling BJP has said that the murder bid only exposes the “nervousness” of the mining mafia.

Nayagaon police in Bhind district received information about some illegal quarrying of sand in the Sindh River in Padora village. Town Inspector Jitendra Mawai quickly formed a team and rushed to the spot.

The police team found illegal mining operations going on and immediately started seizing the digging machines when the goons reached the spot and outnumbered the few policemen.

One of the drivers of these machines started speeding his vehicle and tried knocking down the inspector, who somehow managed to dodge the assault. The inspector, along with his men, saved themselves by fleeing the spot.

Soon, a heavy police force was pressed into action and police seized the machines involved in the illegal digging and launched a manhunt to nab the assailants.

Rahul Kothari, BJP spokesperson said that state government was committed to crush the mining mafia and such incidents only expose the nervousness of the mafia claiming that stringent action would be taken against those who attacked the police.

The Gwalior-Chambal region has remained a hotbed of illegal mining activity. Yet, with no stern action, the mining mafia continues with its operations and is now daring to attack the law enforcers too.

Accusing the state government of shielding the mining mafia, Congress leader Bhupendra Gupta threatened that his party would launch an agitation if a case is not registered against the assailants.
