Geneva, December 09 (QNA) – The State of Qatar has reiterated continuing to fulfill its humanitarian obligations towards refugees, and will continue to provide necessary support for the activities and programs of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in order to enhance their capacity to overcome the challenges and difficulties faced by its operations in various parts of the world.
This came in a statement of the State of Qatar delivered by HE Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva HE Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab at the Ninth dialogue of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on protection challenges.
HE Ambassador Al Henzab said that the refugee problem has become at the moment, the toughest challenges and most complex problems facing the countries of the world, with multiple aspects and their impacts, in a world of multiplying crises including the cases of asylum and new displacement, which coincide with the international community’s inability to provide adequate support for them, or access to the solution to end the tragedy and painful conditions.
He noted that the State of Qatar emphasizes that the provision of education for refugee and displaced children is an important way to maintain life for those who find themselves trapped in conflict zones or displaced in refugee camps .
He added that Qatar is aware of this fact and for this purpose it had launched the Educate A Child (EAC), a global programme of the Education Above All Foundation, along with the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, a new three-year partnership that will provide access to education for children affected by conflict and forced displacement in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, in order to reduce the number of children deprived of their basic right to education in all parts of the world as a result of poverty, discrimination and conflict, it also works the initiative in 40 countries through 45 project, where it was to reach more than 6 million children are not enrolled schools.(QNA)
