Doha: Public Works Authority (Ashghal) inaugurated today the Banni Hajer Intersection, which is a part of the Khalifa Avenue project. The intersection will facilitate traffic flow between Doha, Dukhan, Banni Hajer, and Al Rayyan.
The completion of the intersection means that all road diversions will now be removed as traffic will now be diverted to the intersection, which will decrease transport times significantly and lower road congestions.
The former roundabout-turned-intersection now connects three main roads in Khalifa Avenue, Dukhan, and Al Rayyan. All those roads serve densely-populated areas as well.
The inauguration also saw the opening of new parts of Khalifa Avenue, 2.4 kilometers between the Gharafa-Al Rayyan intersection. This brought the total work completed of Khalifa Avenue to 5.5 kilometers. The inauguration also included an overpass and a tunnel that are 1.3 kilometers long. They connect roads coming from Al Rayyan and going towards Dukhan. Ashghal also opened two exits through Khalifa Avenue that are in the direction of Banni Hajer.
