Channel 13 Israel said on Sunday evening that the Israeli leadership had made contacts with its allies to ensure their participation in the operation to repel any Iranian attack.

Tensions in the region have risen following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement in the Iranian capital Tehran on Wednesday, a day after an Israeli raid in Beirut killed Fouad Shukr, a senior military commander in the Lebanese Hezbollah group allied with Iran.

Fears are growing that the war that Israel has been waging on Palestinian fighters in Gaza since October will turn into a wider conflict in the Middle East.

Iran and Hamas accuse Israel of assassinating Haniyeh, and have vowed, along with Hezbollah, to take revenge.

Israel has neither claimed responsibility for the assassination of Haniyeh nor denied it.
