A man has been sentenced with imprisonment for 7 years by a criminal court here in Doha. The man was accused of breaking into a house and stealing jewellery and other items worth around QR5 million. The man had a previous criminal history as well.
According to a report published in the local Arabic daily Arrayah the defendant was detained at the airport while he was attempting to leave the country with some of the stolen jewellery.
Investigations into the incident revealed that the defendant trespassed into the house of the victim during the night and managed to break the safe open and stole whatever he could lay his hands on.
Following this incident the victim filed a case against the defendant and demanded a compensation of QR10 million for the damage he incurred due to the theft committed by the defendant.
