NO FINE FOR CHECKING MOBILE AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS IN QATAR. RUMOUR IS FALSE ABOUT THE FINE.

Doha: A rumour has been doing the rounds of social media that motorists will be fined QR150 for using mobile phone at traffic signals.
The message along with a picture which went viral in the last few days also warned about docking 12 points for checking your mobile at traffic signals. The picture along with the message showed workers fixing the camera.
A source from the traffic department confirmed it to Al Sharq newspaper that the rumour is false and there is neither such fine nor any docking of points.
The news and images showing installation of special cameras to catch such offences are fake, the report added. Some messages spread through Whatsapp showed people who are fined for checking their mobile. These were also fake.
Using mobile phone while driving still faces fine and it is could cause accidents. Drivers should restrain from using mobile phones while driving as this puts many lives under danger.
