Qatar’ population has increased from 2.70 million in February 2018 to 2.77 million at end of February 2019, representing an annual increase of 2.7 percent, according to the monthly statistics released by the Planning and Statistics Authority.
According to the report, 1,819 live births were registered in February 2019, a 17.1 percent decrease compared to January 2019. A decrease in the total Qatari live births by 16.6 percent was recorded compared to January.
On the other hand, 161 deaths were recorded during the same period, showing a decrease of 2.4 percent compared to January 2019.
Moreover, February 2019 has experienced a decrease in marriage contracts and divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 287, while the total number of divorces reached 74 cases, representing one divorce in every four marriages.
Total electricity consumption during February 2019 was 1,830.4 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 10 percent and an annual drop of 14.8 percent while the total water consumption reached 30,578.8 m3 during the same month recording a monthly decrease of 9.9 percent and an annual drop of 12.7 percent.
According to the statistics, 675 buildings permits issued in February 2019, recording a monthly decrease of 14.6 percent.
For banking sector, total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about QR572.5 billion during February 2019, with an annual decrease of 4.3 percent compared with February 2018.
On the other hand, cash equivalents, including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for QR809.2 billion during February 2019.
The figure has recorded an annual decrease of 0.3 percent compared to February 2018, when deposits recorded approximately QR811.5 billion.
