Qatar, Saudi Arabia share 1-1 draw in gulf cup opening-match
RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: Ibrahim Majid’s second-half header earned Qatar a 1-1 draw with hosts Saudi Arabia in the opening match of the 2014 Gulf Cup on Thursday at Kin g Fahad Stadium, in a result which leaves Group A with all to play for ahead of the final two rounds of group games.
Even though Qatar enjoyed nearly 60% of ball position , Saudi Arabia broke the deadlock on 37 minutes, Nasser Al Shamrani powered into the penalty area before setting up Fahad Mawalad, whose pace earned him priority to lung towards the ball and beat keeper Burhan.
