Qatar To Be in Global Top Five for Fibre Penetration, Says Ooredoo Chairman

Doha, July 04 (QNA) – Qatar is set to be one of the top five countries in the world for fiber penetration upon the completion of the next phase of Ooredoo Fibre roll-out, which has already begun, Ooredoo Chairman HE Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani said.

Speaking at the Ooredoo’s annual ghabga, a special social gathering that brings employees together in Ramadan, he outlined the results the company has achieved in Qatar in 2014, which saw it grow its customer base to 3.3 million – a 10 percent increase on the previous year.

The company’s success in fixed line and fiber services, with more than 225,000 homes already connected to Ooredoo Fibre, has been matched by its success in the mobile space. Ooredoo was the first company in Qatar to offer 4G and 4G+ services, and continues to offer a range of data and digital content services.
