A WOMAN has been charged with murder after allegedly hitting a motorbike rider on purpose with her car south of Tweed earlier this month.

Police will allege the 47-year-old woman of Girards Hill purposely hit the man with her white Ford Falcon station wagon.

It is believed the man was not known to her.

The rider of the motorbike, bike-enthusiast Trevor Moran, 61, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics however died at the scene.

The incident occurred at 8.30am on Friday 6 January at the Cudgera Creek Road off ramp at Cudgera Creek following reports of a crash.

The woman was taken to Tweed Hospital for mandatory testing following the crash.

Strike Force Rumbelow was established to investigate the incident and officers part of the strike force arrested the woman today.

She was taken to Lismore Police Station where she was charged with murder.

She has been refused bail and is due to appear in Lismore Local Court tomorrow.

Police are urging any witnesses or road users who may have seen the white Ford on the morning of 6 January to contact Crime Stoppers.
