8 Awesome Features We Can Expect of iPhone 7 in 2016

iPhone has gained a significant number of loyal followers since its debut on June 29, 2007, and this line of smartphones continues thriving globally during the next following years. In each year’s summer or autumn, Apple would launch a new generation of iPhone with 1 or 2 models. It has become a tradition for Apple fans to wonder what new features of the next iPhone deserve the most expectation.

Since Apple launched an “s” phone in 2015, which indicates slight improvements of the previous year’s version, many people look forward to a major redesign of the iPhone 7 that may wow the public. It’s only three months left before the unveiling of year’s upcoming iPhone series. Though rumors about it become overwhelming, we may still calm down and conduct a reasonable speculation of what features are realistic enough to be expected.

1. iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Phone 7 Pro

Normally, we’d expect two models this year just like 2015, a 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and a 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. But rumors has that Apple is working on a third device possibly named “iPhone7 Pro” or “iPhone 7 Premiere”. It’s said that the 5.5-inch model will be equipped with a dual-lens camera, while the 4.7-inch one appears to depict a larger camera compared to iPhone 6.

2. Dual-lens camera

Last year, Apple INC purchased Linx Imaging, an Israeli camera company, which will provide technology support for the dual-lens system.

Dual-lens camera aims to bridge the gap of photo quality between iPhone and DSLR cameras. With a dual-lens camera system, our phone will be capable of 2-3x optical zooming, different focal length, which will lead to cleaner and brighter photos with less noise regardless of poor light conditions. What’s more, we can capture photo and video at the same time with dual lens.

As far as we know, this dual-lens camera system will only be incorporated on the 5.5-inch iPhone, and we don’t know for sure whether it indicates iPhone 7 Plus or iPhone7 Pro or both.

3. Exterior design

The iPhone 7 is said to be much thinner than the former generation, but not a dramatic cut-down. People say that the iPhone 7 may be between 6.0mm and 6.5mm, but based on leaking design cases, the thickness barely remains the same.

Criticized by many people, the bump camera may eventually be exchanged with a flat one.

Another change on the outside is the removal of the antenna bands on the surface. Apple will eliminate the rear bands located on the back of the shell while bands located at the sides od the device may be kept.

4. 3GB RAM and 32GB storage

The amounts of RAM will be different for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7Plus, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Considering the higher processing demands of the dual-lens camera iPhone 7 Plus may carry, it’s entirely understandable to install a 3GB RAM on the device. It’s predicted and also hoped that iPhone 7 would probably change the minimum storage from 16GB to 32GB.

5. No headphone jack

It seems that Apple intends to cut down on the thickness by dropping the headphone jack and adopting a lighting port for both charging and music playing. The 3.5mm headphone jack has existed for years, but this removal will force people to rely on either Bluetooth or lighting port and give up a longtime habit.

The empty hole left by the jack plug may be used to incorporate an additional speaker to try stereo sound, but it hasn’t been spotted in any design blueprints.

6. Wireless earphones

If the removal of headphone jack proves to be true, then a set of wireless earphones will be put on the agenda doubtlessly. Instead of following the tradition of connecting the left and right earpieces, Apple is working on separate earphones without a connective cord. But the battery of the earphones seems only have 4 hours life, which is too short for music fans.

7. Smart connector

Designed to connect accessories, the smart connector has first appeared on the iPad Pro. According to rumors, the Smart Connector may be limited to the larger 5.5-inch model for wireless charging or battery cases.

8. EMI shielding

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shields are used to prevent wireless interference between various products. Improved electromagnetic interference aims to shield the majority major chips separately, and it may also enable Apple to put many chips closer which will eventually leave out more space for new parts or a bigger battery.
